If you think in black and white, your experience of life will be in black and white; what doesn't seem to fit in either the black and white categories will cause suffering.
Thoughts in bright beautiful colors will enhance your experience of life tenfold. It opens new doors and new opportunities to engage with the world you live in. Black and white thinking is rooted in polar division thinking. This thinking is not integrated and does not allow for all variables and often results in mutually exclusive constructs...aka: lose/lose situations.
When you see something as good or bad for instance then where do you put the things that don't fit into that category? Is killing bad? Yes? Then what of killing someone in self-defense? Is that bad? No? Then is it good? No, not really. Looking at things from a love or fear perspective opens up a realm of possibilities. If I kill in self defense out of love of self or love for family, then it is easy to reconcile such a thing. Is there more to the lesson? Surely, but that is more individualized than a general writing can convey.
